Bottle Cleaning and Sterilisation Policy


Aim

To ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all children through effective hygiene practices which are promoted by recognised authorities.

Implementation

Effective bottle cleaning and sterilisation practices are an important contribution to maintaining service hygiene and preventing the spread of infectious disease. Germs can live and reproduce in food and beverages if appropriate food preparation and hygiene practices are not implemented.

Educator Responsibilities

To ensure all bottles used at the service are clean and hygienic, educators will implement the Bottle Cleaning Procedure to clean milk and water bottles at the service.

Educators will also implement the Bottle Sterilisation Procedure for babies up to 12 months old.

Nominated Supervisor Responsibilities

The Nominated Supervisor will ensure the Bottle Cleaning Procedure and Bottle Sterilisation Procedure are displayed where bottles are cleaned and sterilised.

The Nominated Supervisor will ensure the Bottle Cleaning Procedure is displayed where bottles are cleaned.
