Mental health of preschoolers
Mental health is increasingly being recognised as a crucial part of people’s overall health. According to a recent study by Flinders University, 1 in 10 children under the age of 5 experiences mental health problems. These include things like how they relate to their peers, how they manage conflict, and whether they are happy to try new things. Children who do not like change may be at risk of significant mental health issues. Early intervention by childcare educators can help children overcome or manage these problems. Is mental health something that is addressed with preschool aged children at your service? What strategies do you use to help these children?
