The Snapshot Report shows that 6% of services are rated as Working Towards for this Standard, 67% as meeting and 27% as Exceeding. How can you achieve and maintain an Exceeding rating in this area?<br \/>\n<strong>Discussion<br \/>\n<\/strong>You have visits from the local fire brigade, police and you go on a quarterly visit to the nursing home. The following have been copied from \u201cMeeting\u201d reports that show a general theme as to why the service was rated meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The service may wish to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>consider how community links can <strong>enhance the educational program<\/strong> for <strong>each child<\/strong> currently enrolled at the service, as there are many highlighted past events within the Quality Improvement Plan and through discussions with educators<\/li>\n<li>strengthen practices in regard to <strong>consistently maintaining effective partnerships<\/strong> with other early childhood professionals and the community, to enhance each child\u2019s learning, wellbeing and inclusion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What does it mean to <strong>enhance the educational program for each child with the community<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"management\" width=\"350\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"management\" width=\"350\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"management\" width=\"350\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"management\" width=\"350\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"management\" width=\"350\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>What does it mean to <strong>consistently maintain effective partnerships<\/strong> with other early childhood professionals and the community to enhance each child\u2019s learning, wellbeing and inclusion?<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"management\" width=\"350\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"management\" width=\"350\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"management\" width=\"350\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"management\" width=\"350\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"management\" width=\"350\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"management\" width=\"350\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"management\" width=\"350\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.centresupport.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/nominated.png\" width=\"60%\" height=\"auto\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"center\" src=\"https:\/\/www.centresupport.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/must.png\" width=\"60%\" height=\"auto\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>National Regulations underpinning<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>Element 6.2.3<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Regulation 3 Definition of Regular Outing<br \/>\nRegulation 100 Risk assessment must be conducted before excursion<br \/>\nRegulation 101 Conduct of risk assessment for excursion<br \/>\nRegulation 102 Authorisation for excursions<br \/>\nPlain English Versions<br \/>\nRegulation 3 Definition of Regular Outing<br \/>\nRegular outings are walks, drives or trips to and from a place the service visits regularly and where the risks identified and managed in the original risk assessment don\u2019t change.<\/p>\n<p>Reg 100<br \/>\nYou must complete a risk assessment before asking parents\/guardians to authorise an excursion.<br \/>\nRisk assessments aren\u2019t required if the excursion is a regular outing and a risk assessment has been completed for it less than 12 months ago.<br \/>\nReg 101<br \/>\nRisk assessments must identify and assess excursion risks and say how they\u2019ll be eliminated or reduced.<br \/>\nRisk assessments must include:<br \/>\n\u2022 where children are going<br \/>\n\u2022 route children will take<br \/>\n\u2022 type of transport or if children will walk<br \/>\n\u2022 how long the excursion will last<br \/>\n\u2022 any water hazards<br \/>\n\u2022 number of adults and children going<br \/>\n\u2022 whether extra adults are going to provide extra supervision<br \/>\n\u2022 whether any adults with specialised skills are going<br \/>\n\u2022 what children will be doing including any water activities<br \/>\n\u2022 any items educators will take including mobile phone, emergency kit and children\u2019s emergency contact numbers<\/p>\n<p>Reg 102<br \/>\nYou can\u2019t take a child on an excursion unless a parent or someone else authorised on the enrolment form has authorised this. You only need to get authorisation once every 12 months for regular outings. Authorisations must include:<br \/>\n\u2022 child\u2019s name<br \/>\n\u2022 that you\u2019re getting approval to take child on an excursion<br \/>\n\u2022 date of excursion (unless it\u2019s a regular outing)<br \/>\n\u2022 explanation about where children are going and what they\u2019ll be doing<br \/>\n\u2022 type of transport or if children will walk<br \/>\n\u2022 how long the excursion will last<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>how many children will be going<\/li>\n<li>educator to child ratio<\/li>\n<li>number of any extra adults going to provide extra supervision<\/li>\n<li>advice parents can view the risk assessment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"center\" src=\"https:\/\/www.centresupport.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/must.png\" width=\"60%\" height=\"auto\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How to build connections with the community<\/li>\n<li>How to use community resources to provide experiences and support for children and families<\/li>\n<li>Where your parents work so you can consider conducting an excursion to their workplace<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Walk around the block <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Department calls you and says \u2018I want your educators to take the children on a walking excursion around the block. Your educators conduct the excursion and they return. You ask, \u201cwhat did you learn on the excursion\u201d? The educators say, \u201cnot much, it was a waste of time. Jackson played up the whole time. This shop sells electrically meters for new houses. If these learning plans are not developed beforehand the excursions usually turns into a superficial experience where there is no <strong>enhancement of learning<\/strong> with the children.<\/p>\n<p>Learning plans need to include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Who are the people you will meet during the excursion?<\/li>\n<li>What do they do?<\/li>\n<li>What connection do they have with the children?<\/li>\n<li>What can we learn from them?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Are you, the Nominated Supervisor, <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">the problem?<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>Have you stopped educators taking children on excursions? Why? What are your concerns, fears, worries?
