lot of centres don\u2019t understand they have to do a risk assessment for <strong>ALL potential<\/strong> emergencies or what those emergencies could be.<\/p>\n<p>Please ensure you discuss and identify if these are appropriate for your room and service. Remember whole service emergency practice are required, but what happens if the emergency starts in your room?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bushfire<\/li>\n<li>Intruder<\/li>\n<li>Grassfire<\/li>\n<li>Building Fire<\/li>\n<li>Severe Weather Event<\/li>\n<li>River Flooding<\/li>\n<li>Earthquake<\/li>\n<li>Bomb\/ Substance Threat<\/li>\n<li>Pandemic<\/li>\n<li>Hazardous Substance Release (Inside and Outside Facility Grounds)<\/li>\n<li>Angry Parent Threatening or Abusing Educators<\/li>\n<li>Child Meltdown<\/li>\n<li>Child Leaving the Service by Themselves<\/li>\n<li>Snake in the Room<\/li>\n<li>Car smashing into service or playground trapping children<\/li>\n<li>Educator on Drugs Having Psychotic Episode<\/li>\n<li>Child brings hand gun to centre in bag and gets it out<\/li>\n<li>Alien Invasion (just checking to see if you are reading).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Looking at your list of emergencies, how would you connect and learn from your local community? For example, Alice\u2019s mum is an ambulance officer. She has assisted the educators thinking about different ways to deal with emergencies from her experience. Every visit from the emergency services to your centre gives you the opportunity to talk to and discuss how to deal with emergencies and this needs to be documented.<\/p>\n<p><em>Document how you would connect to the families to learn more about dealing with emergencies. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p><strong>Exceeding Theme Core<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Managers develop partnerships with key emergency service organisations and ensure emergency plans are practised regularly.
